Where a circle crop is used
WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and most apps show profile pictures as circles. Uploading a square photo lets the app cut the corners itself, often cutting off hair or shoulders. Cropping to a circle first shows you exactly what will appear.

Why is the output a PNG?
Only PNG keeps the corners transparent. A JPG would fill the corners with white or black instead.
Can I choose where the circle sits?
This version cuts the circle from the center. A drag-to-position circle is planned as the next upgrade.
