Output: exactly 1024 x 1024 px, JPG.

Center crop for now — a square is cut from the center of the image, then resized to 1024 x 1024 px. Nothing is stretched. If your photo is smaller than 1024 x 1024 px, it is enlarged to 1024 x 1024 px, which does not add detail.

Why 1024 x 1024?

1024 x 1024 pixels is the standard square size for profile pictures and app icons: it is sharp enough for high-density phone screens and is the size many apps and platforms expect for avatars, channel art and game icons. The same size also works as a square product photo or a social post image. For other sizes in one go, try our One Image to All Platform Sizes tool, or read our Best Image Sizes for Social Media guide.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Resizing runs on your device, in your browser.

Will my photo be stretched?

No. A square is cut from the center first, then resized — so a wide photo loses its left and right edges, and a tall photo loses its top and bottom. If your subject is off-center, crop it to a square first.

What if my photo is smaller than 1024 x 1024 px?

It is enlarged to 1024 x 1024 px. Enlarging does not add detail, so a very small original will still look soft — it just meets the size requirement.

What if the result file is too large to post?

A 1024 x 1024 JPG from this tool is usually small, but a very detailed photo can still be large — in that case run the result through our Compressor or the Compress to 200KB page first, then upload.
