Output: exactly 1080 x 1080 px, JPG.

Center crop for now — a square is cut from the center of the image, then resized to 1080 x 1080 px. Nothing is stretched. If your photo is smaller than 1080 px on a side, it is enlarged to 1080 px, which does not add detail.

How to resize an image to 1080 x 1080

  1. Choose a photo, or drag and drop it above.
  2. Click Resize to 1080 x 1080. The result is a 1080 x 1080 px JPG — tap Download below to save it.

Why 1080 x 1080?

1080 x 1080 pixels is the standard square size for Instagram feed posts: a 1:1 square at a resolution that stays sharp on phones without an unnecessarily large file. The same square size also works well as a profile picture or a square listing image on other sites.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Resizing runs on your device, in your browser.

Will my photo be stretched?

No. A square is cut from the center first, then resized — so a wide photo loses its left and right edges and a tall photo loses its top and bottom. If your subject is off-center, crop it to a square first.

What if my photo is smaller than 1080 px?

It is enlarged to 1080 x 1080 px. Enlarging does not add detail, so a very small original will still look soft — it just meets the size requirement.
