Output: exactly 1500 x 500 px, JPG.

Center crop for now — an 1500:500 rectangle is cut from the center of the image, then resized to 1500 x 500 px. Nothing is stretched. If your photo is smaller than 1500 x 500 px, it is enlarged to 1500 x 500 px, which does not add detail.

How to resize an image to 1500 x 500

  1. Choose a photo, or drag and drop it above.
  2. Click Resize to 1500 x 500. The result is an 1500 x 500 px JPG — tap Download below to save it.
  3. Upload it as your X header photo, then check it on both desktop and phone before you finish.

Why 1500 x 500?

1500 x 500 pixels is X's recommended header photo size: a wide 3:1 banner that displays sharply on desktop. Keep the important part in the center — see the phone note below. Note: the 1200 x 630 size in our Social Resizer is a shared-link image, not an X header — do not use it as your header.

Frequently asked questions

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Resizing runs on your device, in your browser.

Will my photo be stretched?

No. An 1500:500 rectangle is cut from the center first, then resized — so a square photo loses its top and bottom, and a very tall photo loses even more. If your subject is off-center, crop it to a wide banner shape first.

What if my photo is smaller than 1500 x 500 px?

It is enlarged to 1500 x 500 px. Enlarging does not add detail, so a very small original will still look soft — it just meets the size requirement.

Why does my header look different on a phone?

X crops the left and right sides of a header on phones, so text or faces near the edges can be cut off. Keep names, logos, and faces in the center of the image.

Does the profile photo cover part of the header?

Yes, the profile photo overlaps the bottom-left of the header. Keep that corner clear of important text.

What if the file is too large to upload?

An 1500 x 500 JPG from this tool is usually small, but a very detailed photo can still be heavy — in that case run the result through our Compressor or the Compress to 200KB page first, then upload.
