Output: exactly 1600 x 900 px, JPG.
Center crop for now — a 16:9 rectangle is cut from the center of the image, then resized to 1600 x 900 px. Nothing is stretched. If your photo is smaller than 1600 x 900 px, it is enlarged to 1600 x 900 px, which does not add detail.

Why 1600 x 900?
1600 x 900 pixels is the size X (Twitter) displays for post images: a 16:9 image that stays sharp in the timeline on phones and desktops. The same size also works as a widescreen slide image or a blog hero image. For other sizes in one go, try our One Image to All Platform Sizes tool, or read our Best Image Sizes for Social Media guide.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Resizing runs on your device, in your browser.
Will my photo be stretched?
No. A 16:9 rectangle is cut from the center first, then resized — so a square photo loses its top and bottom, and a very wide photo loses its left and right edges. If your subject is off-center, crop it to 16:9 first.
What if my photo is smaller than 1600 x 900 px?
It is enlarged to 1600 x 900 px. Enlarging does not add detail, so a very small original will still look soft — it just meets the size requirement.
What if the result file is too large to post?
A 1600 x 900 JPG from this tool is usually small, but a very detailed photo can still be large — in that case run the result through our Compressor or the Compress to 200KB page first, then upload.
