Honest limit: sharpening helps slightly soft photos. It cannot recover a photo that is badly out of focus or very low resolution — pushing the amount too high adds harsh halos around edges.

When sharpening helps — and when it does not

Sharpening helps photos that look slightly soft after resizing or compression, and phone photos taken in good light. It does not fix motion blur or a missed focus: those details were never captured, and strong sharpening only adds noise and halos. If the result looks crunchy, lower the amount and try again from the original.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded?

No. Sharpening runs on your device, in your browser.

Will sharpening make a blurry photo perfectly sharp?

No. It strengthens existing edges; it cannot invent detail that is not there.
