Output: exactly 1200 x 1200 px, JPG.
Center crop for now — a square is cut from the center of the image, then resized to 1200 x 1200 px. Nothing is stretched. If your photo is smaller than 1200 x 1200 px, it is enlarged to 1200 x 1200 px, which does not add detail.

Why 1200 x 1200?
1200 x 1200 pixels is the recommended square size for social media posts: Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn all display square posts at 1200 x 1200, so a photo at this size stays sharp on phones and desktops instead of being upscaled from a smaller file. The same size also works as a high-resolution profile picture or a square product photo. For a smaller square, try our Resize to 1024 x 1024 tool, or resize to every platform size in one go with our One Image to All Platform Sizes tool. Read our Best Image Sizes for Social Media guide for the full list.
Frequently asked questions
Is my photo uploaded?
No. Resizing runs on your device, in your browser.
Will my photo be stretched?
No. A square is cut from the center first, then resized — so a wide photo loses its left and right edges, and a tall photo loses its top and bottom. If your subject is off-center, crop it to a square first.
What if my photo is smaller than 1200 x 1200 px?
It is enlarged to 1200 x 1200 px. Enlarging does not add detail, so a very small original will still look soft — it just meets the size requirement. Keep the original, because resizing down cannot be undone from the downloaded file.
What if the result file is too large to post?
A 1200 x 1200 JPG from this tool is usually small, but a very detailed photo can still be large — in that case run the result through our Compressor or the Compress to 200KB page first, then upload.
