Why 1000 x 1000?
1000 x 1000 pixels is the recommended square size for online product images: Amazon asks for product photos of at least 1000 x 1000 pixels so shoppers can use the zoom feature, and eBay and most online stores accept the same square size for listings. A 1:1 square also displays cleanly in search results and category grids without awkward cropping. It works well as an Amazon or eBay listing image, a store product photo, or a large square profile picture.

Will my photo be stretched?
No. A square is cut from the center first, then resized — so a wide photo loses its left and right edges and a tall photo loses its top and bottom. If your subject is off-center, crop it to a square first.
What if my photo is smaller than 1000 px?
It is enlarged to 1000 x 1000 px. Enlarging does not add detail, so a very small original will still look soft — it just meets the size requirement.
