Why 2048 x 2048?
2048 x 2048 pixels is a high-resolution 2K square: four times the pixels of 1024 x 1024, well above Amazon's 1000-pixel minimum for product photos, so zoom stays sharp on large screens. It also works as a print-ready square (about 6.8 inches at 300 dpi), a large social post, or a high-quality source image you can downscale later. The trade-off is file size: a 2048 x 2048 JPG is noticeably larger than a 1000 x 1000 one, so compress it afterwards if you need a small file.

Will my photo be stretched?
No. A square is cut from the center first, then resized — so a wide photo loses its left and right edges and a tall photo loses its top and bottom. If your subject is off-center, crop it to a square first.
What if my photo is smaller than 2048 px?
It is enlarged to 2048 x 2048 px. Enlarging does not add detail, so a very small original will still look soft — it just meets the size requirement.
